3.0 is the biggest update since AvyScan Lab was created: the software becomes a true editing program dedicated to film restoration. A reel is dozens of shots with different exposures and framings — from now on, each one is adjusted independently.
Automatic shot cutting
Splice detection cuts the reel into shots, one per stretch of film between two splices. The splices themselves — those overexposed, flashed frames where one shot changes to the next — are automatically excluded from the export; each one can still be inspected frame by frame and reincluded with one click. A manual scissors tool refines the cut.
Every shot, its own settings
Colour, brightness, degrain, sharpness: every shot carries its own filter chain. Crop adjusts shot by shot — the position of the image is rarely constant on an old film — while keeping one shared output size. Presets apply to the selected shot or to all shots of the clip.
Editing timeline
Coloured sections, splices in red, a synchronized thumbnail strip: scrub the whole film in one drag, preview included, even across shot boundaries. Every shot can be included in or excluded from the export, and In/Out points delimit the part to process.
Merged or per-shot export
The complete film in a single file, or a separate file per shot — ideal for archiving a reel sequence by sequence.
Titler (Expert version)
Generated title cards slot in before or after any shot: film title, chapters, end card — without touching the original frames. Text, font, colours, fades, black frames and a text slide that leaves the frame with motion blur, like in the movies. The preview shows exactly the final render.
